Trip Overview

A short and easy trek of just 4 to 5 days Ghorepani Poon hill trek is something everyone should try once. A short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and we get to see the incredible Mt. fishtail (6997m/22,956ft), Annapurna 1st. The Ghorepani poon hill trek offers remarkable natural panorama, enchanting views of Annapurna South (7,219m/23,684ft) Dhaulagiri (8167m) Machhapuchchhre(6997m) and Himchuli (6,434). Something that makes this trek so attractive is the possibility that it gives to the trekkers, we can experience the magical mountains peering at us and we get to see all that from “Poon Hill”, located at an altitude of 3210m, the most impressive Mountain View spot in Nepal.

Our trek starts from Nayapul. From nayapul we start our trail through beautiful rice, maze and millet farms of locals.  The main trail leads to Birethanti after which we reach Sudami. The next stop is Hile which eventually leads us to Tikhedhunga.climbing through the boolimg rhododendron forests and the old oak trees, we aim for ulleri that is at the height of 2050 m. A final push to reach Nangethanti, and a few more hours of huffing and puffing will bring us to Ghorepani. You may have often herd people sying that after you die, you see the heavenly light, but you won’t have to go such lengths as dieing to see that heavenly light. At the Poon hill (3210m), as the sun peeks out from the majestic mountains, you will see the light. You will see the rays from heaven shine right at you. Mountains like Dhaulagiri [8167m], Annapurna South [7119m] Fishtail [6993m], Nilglgiri south, Singa chuli , Annapurna I [8091m] will shine along with the morning sun. This journey then takes us to the absolutely beautiful and stunning village of ghandruk, where we get to experience the hospitality of the local gurungs people. Walking downhill from ghandruk, we will then reach Syaulibazar after 3 hours. Out trek finally comes to an end after we reach nayapul, from where we drive back to pokhara. This whole trip will always remain in the most scared part of your heart, you will always cherish these memories and you will want to make more of them. Happy trekking!!!

Poonhill trekking is one of the best trekking routes in the world and some people also name it as winter trek because it can be done throughout the winter season of Nepal which lies between December to February. Ghorepani- Poonhill Trek can also be done within 3to 4 days from Pokhara to Pokhara.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
On your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, our airport representatives will warmly greet you, after which you will be transferred to the hotel on a private tourist vehicle.

Day 2: Trip meeting followed by valley sightseeing
Early next morning following a hearty breakfast, Hike Himalaya Adventures will host a pre-trip meeting at the hotel you’re staying. During this meeting, we introduce your trip guide, and we’ll be happy to answer any question you may have. We provide you with important information about the trip, so do feel free to take notes if you want to. Also, please kindly bring three passport-size photos, passport and travel insurance policy. Legal formalities, including liability waiver, will be taken care of in this meeting.
Once the meeting concludes, we begin our sightseeing of the valley for which a private vehicle along with a professional guide will be provided. The valley is dotted with fantastic cultural heritages, some of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which we’ll visit. These include Boudhanath Stupa (the largest Buddhist shrines in the world), Pashupatinath (the holiest Hindu temple in the world), Durbar Squares (Palaces and fortresses of medieval Kings), along with other popular cultural attractions. The lifestyle of the Nepalese people, holy sadhus and monks, the fascinating history and the awe-inspiring architecture will be the highlight of this day-long sightseeing trip.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

You will be ushered to the bus station by our staff for the bus to Pokhara. The ride will be pleasant and go through one of Nepal’s major highways. For much of the ride’s duration, you will see gorgeous hills and the gushing Trishuli river. Once you reach Pokhara, you will be awestruck by the city’s natural beauty. The gorgeous Phewa lake overlooking the Annapurna range, Macchpuchare “Fishtail” mountain more prominently, will take your breath away. Pokhara is the perfect place for relaxation and adventure activities as well.

Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. Trek from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga

A 1-hour ride from Pokhara takes us to Nayapul, the starting point of our trekking. Walking along the banks of Modi Khola takes us to the bustling town of Birethani. The track eventually ascends towards the famed Hiley valley, then shortly afterwards we reach Tikhedhunga, situated at 1,570m. The pleasant trek today is a warm-up for the trails ahead.

Day 5: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani
Leaving Tikhedhunga, we reach the Magar village of Ulleri, a great place to learn about the local culture. The trail starts climbing into the rhododendron forest, heading to Nangethani. From here, Ghorepani is just an hour’s walk away.

Day 6: Hike to Poon Hill. Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani
To see the simply jawdropping sunrise from Poon Hill, we hike to the hilltop very early in the morning. At 3,210m, mountains ahead seem just a stone’s throw away and they radiate into blushing red and then orange as the first beams of sun hits the white snow-capped Annapurnas. After watching the sunrise, we head back to the guesthouse from where we trek to Tadapani, through pine and rhododendon forests.

Day 7: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk

Today, the trek starts with a steep downhill through rhododendron forests as we leave Tadapani. As we descend more towards Chommrong, we come across a Gurung village by the name of Gurjung. From there, Chommrong, at 2,140m, is a comfortable way ahead.

Day 8: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul. Drive to Pokhara

We conclude our trek today after reaching Nayapul. From Nayapul, we take a short drive back to Pokhara.Day 9: Pokhara sightseeing
The sightseeing of the city will start in the morning. A professional tour guide and a private vehicle are provided for this session, which will take us to the famed Fewa and Begnas Lakes, museums, Tibetan refugee settlement, Gupteshwar cave and Davis Waterfall. All in all, the day will be eventful as well as relaxing.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu, and farewell dinner

Early in the morning, we take a bus back to Kathmandu. Leisure activities like souvenir shopping, spa and more exploration of the city can be done in late afternoon. You may also wish to extend your trip to include bungee jumping, rafting, Everest mountain flight and so forth. Later in the evening, you will be invited for a farewell dinner at a typical Nepalese restaurant, which will host cultural shows.

Day 11: Departure from Kathmandu

This is the last day of the trip. You will be transferred to the airport and we wish you safe journey back home.
