Trip Overview
Trekking in Langtang provides the splendid fusion of the quiet atmosphere, the beautiful scenery and the cultural heritages. Langtang Valley can be trailed through various passes and the Ganja La Pass is one of them.
This pass is in particular the most unique of all as it provides a multitude of trekking destinations. The Gangja La Pass guides the trekkers through narrow valleys that lie below the main Himalayan range reaching the Northern Tibet boarder. A part of the trail is covered by the lower range Southern Snowy Peaks. One can find ample opportunities to exhibit the Tibetan and Tamang villages which are the origination of the rustic ways of living that signify the Sherpa. The land is finned with various traditional heritages spread throughout in the sparsely populated area. One can even climb small peaks to visit the low-altitude glaciers.
The trek starts from the KyanjinGompa, which is the last Tibetan Village in the valley, to Helambu over the Ganja La Pass. This pass is among the most popular, and also the most challenging among the trekkers and guides. The path opens for trekkers during autumn and spring because of the difficulty in scaling these trails in the winter.
Ganja La Pass offers the trekkers with a wild and adventurous experience that makes the experience an experience of a lifetime. During spring, the forest trail is filled with vividly coloured Rhododendrons that bloom along the way providing a spectacular sight in the blinding white of the snow. Ganja La Pass, being one of the dangerous passes of Nepal, requires serious undertaking, flawless equipment and a skilled guides with years of experience. Trekkers must be ready to go a whopping four days maximum with no facilities and groups as they must be self-sufficient with the technical climbing equipment. This trail is not for the weak hearted as this trail requires a higher level of skills in handling and using the climbing equipment. The trails reaches its end on a glaciated path where the necessity of ropes, crampons and ice axes makes the journey even more exciting.
