Day 5: Trek from Kagbeni to Chaile
Following the trails along the Kali Gandaki River, we climb over several ridges, passing many interesting villages like Tangbe, which sports whitewashed houses and narrow alleys. Another such village we come across is Chusang, which is nearby Tangbe. The trail gradually starts to climb away from the banks of Kali Gandaki River, taking us to Chaile, which is largely an ancient Tibetan settlement.
Day 6: Trek from Chaile to Geling
We start the trek through barren landscape, a prelude of Upper Mustang unique and mystifying terrain. Massifs including canyons and cliffs adorn the route. The pleasant trek first reaches the village of Samar after which we trek along the ridge to reach a valley field. Crossing a small pass along the way, we then reach Geiling Village in late afternoon.
Day 7: Trek from Geling to Charang
The mild climbs up to Nyi La Pass then takes us to a steel bridge over Tangmar River through an amazing landscape of red and rocky cliffs. En route, we admire the Mani walls, which hold religious significance in Buddhism. We do not gain significant altitude today as we reach Charang village, situated at 3,600 meters in height. Generations old monuments dedicated to Buddhist gods are real attraction here, which we will visit.

We spend today resting in Lo Manthan and its vicinity, as well as light hiking. We will hike to Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. The former is perched on atop a hill whereas the latter is the farthest of the villages from Lo Manthan to the North. We’ll return to Lo Manthan after the hike.

For quite sometime, we follow a trail along the banks of a river before crossing the one draining Damodar Lake. We then ascend higher up until we reach Tange village at 3,370 meters. Day 12: Trek from Tange to Tetang
We continue on to Tetang today. The trek takes us through a steep ridge, with ample glimpses of wonderful scenery that surround us. The winds here are pretty strong, which is also the reason why our destination, Tetang, is between two hills, protecting from the relentless gust.
Day 13: Trek from Chuksang to Jomsom
On our final trekking day, we descend via trails that guide us through the Jharkot village, which is a great place for cultural exploration.
